The primary school "G. Rodari”, initially known as " San Carlo " school, starts to operate in the school-year1974/75. In 2002 extension works begin for the creation of a new hall for the special school ( a school for disabled children). Teachers, most of them with a no time limit contract, provide an important educational continuity and a planning of the formative proposal which meets the students’ and families’ needs.
The secondary school of first degree "G. Mercalli" is historically one of the oldest in the city. Born as a technical school in the distant 1912, evolved as a commercial school, to take up today's function in the school-year 1961/62. In more recent years it has been characterized by the introduction in the curriculum of a second foreign language in addition to English anticipating the school reform. The present educative offer aims at the formative success of children pursued with some attention to quality factors such as organizational flexibility, customized pathways for pupils, integration with the territory.
The special school "G. Rodari" is a primary school and as such is located in the same building as the elementary school. The characteristics of the new hall opened in 2004, with spaces and laboratories equipped to overcome the disability, provide a modular organization which is a positive support to didactic activities which pay a special attention to recognize differences and educational needs, to plan personalized projects, to use strategies that improve the relational and cognitive efficiency, to implement the schoolmates’ collaboration through networks of friendship, cooperative learning and tutoring.
The Nursery School "G. Rodari” has been recently opened (school-year 06/07). In it, the child is the center of the educational path thanks to a methodology aimed at stimulating the child’s interest, to promote his experience and the life with the others. With this new structure, devoted to children, the institute responds to a pressing need of the users and fulfills its training course in the perspective of a methodological-didactic curriculum which can be continuous and significant.
